This website has been created with the support of Waikato District Council Heritage Fund to support the sharing of Heritage information from our part of the Waikato District - the Tamahere and Eureka and neighbouring areas including Gordonton.
The Waikato District Heritage Strategy supports the retention, presentation and communication of the history and heritage in our part of New Zealand. Although much of the land in this area was low lying there were established travel routes, settlement and cultivation important to local iwi prior to the land use practices brought by European settlers.
The intention of this website is to communicate the information we can and encourage preservation of local heritage. We are continually gathering information to add to the site. People with heritage information are invited to add publications, photos, films and stories. Please contact us by email or complete the contact form so we can contact you.
