Clearing the Land at Puketaha

Everybody likes a mystery? Where in Puketaha is this?

The cover photograph is one of series of photographs found at the Te Aroha Museum.

All four photos were courtesy of Janice Parsell/Nightingale

On the back of each photo is written a comment:

1: (cover pic): On right: James Thomas Parsell & neighbour at Puketaha 1938

2: The neighbour has just pulled Dad’s (Parsell’s) tractor out of a hole on the right. Puketaha, 1938.

Maybe Parsell was contracted to do some clearing of the land at Puketaha? Maybe he lived in the district for a time?  Who was the neighbour?  Can anybody recognise or remember these men?

The Parsell name can be found living at or near Waitoa – which suggests why these photos eneded up at  the Te Aroha  Museum'
